For sample adults who had seen a practitioner for acupuncture during the past 12 months (ACUYR) and had used acupuncture for a specific health problem or condition (ACUTREAT), ACUSINTER indicates whether they had used acupuncture because "you thought it would be interesting to try."

Other reasons for using acupuncture that were recorded by the survey, and the associated IHIS variables, are:
