Description

For sample adults who had never used chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation (COMEV), COMNEVOTH identifies those who responded, "Some other reason" when asked, "Please tell me the reasons why you have never used chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation." Respondents could supply more than one reason for never having used chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation.

Other reasons for never using chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation are recorded in the following variables:

• COMNEVCOST (Too expensive)

• COMNEVHC (HC worker said not to)

• COMNEVKNOW (Didn't know about it)

• COMNEVNEED (Not needed)

• COMNEVPROOF (Not proven to work)

• COMNEVSAFE (Not safe)

• COMNEVTHINK (Never thought of it)

• COMNEVWORK (Doesn't work)

• COMNEVREAS (No reason)

Although 16 alternative health modalities were covered in the 2007 alternative health supplement, only in the case of acupuncture (see ACUNEVCOST), chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation, meditation (see RELNEVCOST), and yoga (see YTQNEVCOST) were survey participants who had never used the method.
