Description

COMUSMEDFAIL indicates whether sample adults had used chiropractic care or chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation because "conventional medical treatments would not help you" (2002) or "because medical treatments did not help" (2007). In 2002, sample adults who had used chiropractic care for a specific health problem or condition during the past year (COMYR, COMTREAT) were asked their reasons for using this treatment. In 2007, sample adults who had seen a practitioner for a chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation during the past 12 months (COMYR) were ask their reasons for using this treatment.

Other reasons for using chiropractic care or chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation that were recorded by the survey, and the associated IHIS variables, are:

Comparability
