DEPRESSYR indicates whether sample adults were frequently depressed or anxious during the past 12 months.

In 2007, information on whether sample adults were depressed or anxious was reported in two separate variables, DEPFREQYR (Frequently depressed, past 12 months) and ANXFREQYR (Frequently anxious, past 12 months).

Available in 2007, DEPRESSNYR reports whether sample children age 4 to 17 had depression during the past 12 months that was diagnosed by a doctor or other health professional.

Comparability

This variable is only available in 2002.
