Description

EHTUSMEDFAIL indicates whether sample adults had used energy healing therapy because "conventional medical treatments would not help you" (2002) or "because medical treatments did not help" (2007). Only sample adults who had seen a practitioner for energy healing therapy during the past 12 months (EHTYR) and, in 2002, had used energy healing therapy for a specific health problem or condition (EHTTREAT) were asked their reasons for using energy healing therapy.

Other reasons for using energy healing therapy that were recorded by the survey, and the associated IHIS variables, are:

• EHTUSENERGY (Enhanced energy)

• EHTUSWELL (General wellness)

• EHTUSHCREC (Health care provider recommended)

• EHTUSMEDCOST (Medical treatment expensive)

• EHTUSRELREC (Family or friends recommended)
