EXSTAIRSNO
Number times climbed stairs, past 2 weeks

Description

For sample adults who had participated in climbing stairs in the past 2 weeks (EXSTAIRS), EXSTAIRSNO reports the number of times the respondent had participated in climbing stairs over those 2 weeks.

After the interviewer determined that a respondent participated in climbing stairs, respondents were asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you climb stairs?"

Related Variables

Respondents were also asked how many minutes on average they had spent climbing stairs each time during the past 2 weeks (EXSTAIRSMIN) and how much their heart rate or breathing had increased while climbing stairs(EXSTAIRSBR).

EXSTAIRSNO is used as one of the input variables in the IHIS-created variable EXSUM1, which is a summary variable that reports whether a respondent would have met the exercise recommendations set forth in the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
