EXTENNISMIN
Duration each time played tennis, past 2 weeks: Minutes

Description

For sample adults who had participated in tennis in the past 2 weeks (EXTENNIS), EXTENNISMIN reports the average number of minutes respondents had spent playing tennis each time they had engaged in that activity over the past 2 weeks.

After determining that a respondent participated in tennis, respondents were first asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you play tennis?" (EXTENNISNO). They were then asked, "On the average, about how many minutes did you spend playing tennis each time?" EXTENNISMIN reports the answer to this last question.

Related Variables

As a follow-up, respondents were asked how much their heart rate or breathing had increased while playing tennis(EXTENNISBR).

EXTENNISMIN is used as one of the input variables in the IHIS-created variable EXSUM1, which is a summary variable that reports whether a respondent would have met the exercise recommendations set forth in the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
