For sample adults who had seen a traditional healer during the past 12 months (FOKBOTANYR, FOKCURANYR, FOKESPIRYR, FOKNAMYR, FOKSHAMYR, FOKSOBADYR, or FOKYERBYR), FOKUSWELL indicates whether they had seen a traditional healer "for general wellness or general disease prevention."

Other reasons for seeing a traditional healer (in 2007) or for using folk medicine (in 2002) that were recorded by the survey, and the associated IHIS variables, are:

• FOKUSINTER (Interesting to try)

• FOKUSMEDCOST (Medical treatments expensive)

• FOKUSMEDFAIL (Medical treatment not help)
