Description
For sample adults age 18+ in 2002 and 2007 and sample children under 18 in 2007 who had seen a practitioner for naturopathy in the past 12 months (NATYR) and had used naturopathy to treat a specific health problem or condition (NATTREAT), NATTSEIZ indicates whether the person had used naturopathy to treat seizures.

Naturopathy is one of 16 modalities of alternative medicine that were included in the 2002 and 2007 Alternative Health Supplements. Persons could report treating seizures by any of those methods, although 3 of the methods are not available as treatments for specific health problems in both years. Comparability
The question wording for sample adults did not change at all from 2002 to 2007. In both years, they were asked, "For what health problems or conditions did you use naturopathy?"
The question wording for sample children (who were only included in the 2007 Alternative Health Supplement) is slightly different, emphasizing that the naturopathy treatment must have occurred within the past 12 months: "DURING THE PAST 12 MONTHS, for what health problems or conditions did [fill: sample child's name] use naturopathy?" However, two of the questions for sample adults preceding NATTSEIZ in both 2002 and 2007 (NATYR and NATNO) did specify the 12 month time frame. Persons were only asked the question for NATTSEIZ if they had earlier indicated in NATYR that they had in fact seen a practitioner for naturopathy during the past 12 months.
